THE ROLE OF THE BOARD OPTIONS FOR BOARD STRUCTURE RECRUITMENT STRATEGIES GROWING ENGAGED BOARD MEMBERS BOARD STAFF RELATIONS

In any non-profit organization the board plays many roles.  From day to day operations to fundraising, the board has a role to play.  Learn what responsibility the board has to the organization has a whole.

Boards are not one size fits all.  Different board structures work better for different organizations.  Learn about some different ways to structure a board and see if you are operating with the most effective structure for your organization.

We all have a lot going on and getting the right people to serve on your board can often be difficult.  Learn some tips and tricks for getting community members to engage with your organization for board service.

Once you have them on your board, how do you keep them engaged and passionate about the organization?  It is important to continue to nurture your board members even after they have said yes.  Learn some tips for keeping your board members active and engaged.

Whose job is it anyway?  Is that the role of the staff or the role of the board? The answer may vary depending on the size of your organization, but regardless of organization size it is important to have a good relationship between your staff and board.

MEET THE PRESENTER

Philip Augustin is a photographer based in Santa Fe, NM. Over the past 30 years, Augustin has been actively involved in many non-profit organizations. He currently serves as board president for PhotoArts Santa Fe a non profit organization that encourages photographers and promotes the photographic arts. He also serves on the Support and Endowment Committee of the Georgia O'Keeffe Museum. Prior to moving to Santa Fe, Augustin served seven years on the Board of Directors of the Salem Art Association, including three years on the Executive Committee where he chaired the successful nationwide search for a new Executive Director.
